After a more than three hour delay, the Armenian-Turkish protocols were signed today at approximately 11:22 p.m., Yerevan local time. It appeared that a last-minute hitch, regarding the statement to be made by Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, irritated the Armenian delegation and RoA Foreign Minister Edward Nalbanian made a formal complaint.
Live T.V. broadcasts in Yerevan kept viewers almost in the dark as the minutes ticked away with no movement from inside the Zurich Central University where the signing was to take place. All viewers saw was an empty reception room with the table where the two foreign ministers were supposed to sign the “bitterly contested” document. »»»»»

Residents of Stepanakert today celebrate the third annual holiday devoted to the capital of the NKR. This evening a gala concert is planned to take place in Renaissance Square in the city centre.
The city was called Vararakn up till 1847 and was later called Khankendi from 1874-1923. During the Soviet era it was renamed Stepanakert in honour of communist revolutionary Stepan Shahumyan.
