Prosecutor General - Hayk Gevorgyan Not to Leave Country

On the decision of the RA General Prosecutor’s Office it was decided to change the pretrial measure against the reporter of the Haykakan Zhamanak daily Hayk Gevorgyan.

By discussing the materials of the criminal case, the prosecutor who supervises the preliminary investigation of the criminal case has found out that H. Gevorgyan was charged according to the RA Criminal Code Articles 242, part 1 and 244 that is breach of traffic rules which negligently caused medium-gravity damage to human health and abandonment of the site of the road accident.

On January 23, 2012 arrest was chosen as a pretrial measure against him and he was wanted by the Police. On February 3, 2012 he was found and taken to Nubarashen Penitentiary.

Taking into consideration the public interest it is informed that on February 6 the prosecutor made a decision to change the pretrial measure against H. Gevorgyan.

Taking into account the fact that H. Gevorgyan is charged of committing a crime of not great gravity, was not previously convicted and has a permanent place of residence, the prosecutor considered that there is no need to keep him under arrest.

Thus a decision was made to choose signature not to leave the country as a pretrial measure against him.

The copy of the decision was sent to the head of the Nubarashen Penitentiary in order to pass it to H. Gevorgyan.
