Armenia: Civil Contract Party Wins in Etchmiadzin Election

Preliminary election numbers show that in Etchmiadzin the Civil Contract party, led by the incumbent mayor Diana Gasparyan, won yesterday’s local election in Etchmiadzin with 52.6% of the votes.

Voter turnout in the town was 25.38%

The Etchmiadzin bloc came in second place with 35.26% of the votes.

Local elections were held in 38 communities in Armenia, where the lowest turnout was in Armavir city of Armavir region - 20.73% and Etchmiadzin - 25.38%.

Turnout in Lori’s Tumanyan community was the highest at 69.78%.

Overall, 42.48% of voters or 472,528 people out of 1.112 million people participated in yesterday's local elections.
