43% of Tourists to Armenia are Russian Citizens

42.6% of the 588,731 tourists who visited Armenia during the first half of 2022 were citizens of Russia.

Armenia’s Statistical Committee (SC) has issued data showing that the number of tourists who visited Armenia increased by a factor of 2.4 during the period when compared to last year.

20% of visiting tourists according to the SC were citizens of Armenia residing overseas.

Georgian citizens comprised 10.7% of tourists to Armenia, followed by Iran (8.2%) and the U.S. (2.2%).

The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) defines an international tourist as a person who comes for pleasure, medical treatment, visiting relatives, business, religious or other purposes, travels from their main place of residence to another place for not less than 24 hours and not more than one consecutive year.
