Four tons of explosive materials were stored at Yerevan’s Surmalu Market according to Armenian Minister of Emergency Situations Armen Pambukhchyan.

The minister spoke to reporters today in Yerevan, confirming the death of sixteen people in Sunday’s explosion at the market.

Pambukhchyan said the number of those reported missing is two.

He said the fire has been extinguished and the building housing the explosives, now in ruins, is set to be demolished.
