Armenia’s Corruption Perception Index Score Up One Point

Armenia saw a minute improvement in the recently released 2023 Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) published by Transparency International.

Armenia’s score of 47 out of 100 is a one point uptick since 2022.

A country’s score is the perceived level of public sector corruption on a scale of 0-100, where 0 means highly corrupt and 100 means very clean.

The country thus ranked 62 out of the 180 countries included in the CPI.

The CPI is a useful global indicator, but it is limited to the perceptions of experts and businesspeople of corruption in the public sector.

The CPI looks at Bribery, Diversion of public funds, Officials using their public office for private gain without facing consequences, Ability of governments to contain corruption in the public sector, Excessive red tape in the public sector which may increase opportunities for corruption, Nepotistic appointments in the civil service, and other manifestations of public sector corruption:

Armenia’s CPI score has improved since 2018 when it stood at 35.
