Flyers Labeling Raffi Hovannisian "Pro-Western" Not a Crime, Says Police

During a preliminary investigation into charges that appeared on the www.iditord.org website that members of the “One Nation” organization were continuing to post flyers calling on voters “To Say No to Pro-West Levon and Raffi” the head of the organization, G. Tamazyan, stated that they regarded pro-Western politicians as those who have not condemned homosexuality, religious sects and a free lifestyle.

Tamazyan says that by affixing such flyers the group isn;t out to insult or slander anyone but it merely exercising its right to freedom of speech.

The police have concluded that Hovannisian’s reputation and dignity haven’t been besmirched by the flyers and that the flyers in question were of a “judgemental” nature.

The police also stated that the “pro-West” label could illicit negative as well as positive reactions within the electorate, given the democratic principles operating in Europe and the United States.

The police investigator has thus concluded that no crime has been committed by the One Nation organization and criminal proceedings have been dropped.

A copy of the decision has been forward to Hovannisian’s campaign headquarters.
