Rule of Law MP Bisharyan: “We must all back the protocols with Turkey”

11_05-h_bisharyanAccording to Rule of Law Party (Orinats Yerkir) parliamentary faction leader Heghineh Bisharyan, the party supports efforts now launched by the government to normalize relations with Turkey. She said that her party is in full agreement with the views held by the Sargsyan regime regarding the negotiations process now underway with Ankara."The protocols must be debated within six weeks. One week has already passed and we’ve heard many political leaders express their views. There are also those who oppose the document and many contradictory opinions. We see, however, that the circle of criticism is growing smaller," MP Bisharyan stated at a press conference held today. She said that it was important to first establish those relations and only afterwards to get into the details and see which viewpoints are correct or not. Right now, there is nothing in the protocols that the Rule of Law Party finds objectionable. Commenting on the establishment of various sub-commissions that many have singled out as presenting a threat to the Genocide recognition issue, she commented that there was no need for alarm. "The sub-commissions will afford us the chance to examine all the possibilities that exist in Armenia today regarding issues related to the Genocide. We have historians and historical archives that will allow us to prove everything to the committees. It is also a great opportunity to expose and interpret those contradictory viewpoints that exist between the two nations," MP Bisharyan noted, adding that this wouldn’t be an attempt to prove the fact of the Genocide since many countries have already recognized it. She went on to say that the sub-commissions would tackle other issues as well. When asked if she thought that President Sargsyan would travel to Turkey this fall to attend the football match between the two nations, MP Bisharyan replied that it was a choice for the president himself to make but that she thought it would be the correct thing to do. "If we have started the negotiations process and if they have come here, then we must go. Each of us must assist the normalization of relations," she concluded.
