Marxist Hakobyan – “Muddy Waters of Arax Will Stop Flowing Before Artsakh Lands Returned”

02_07-d_hakobyan-1Davit Hakobyan, the fire-brand leader of Armenia’s Marxist Party, declared at yesterday’s presidential conclave regarding the Armenia-Turkey protocols that Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian should tell U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton that "the muddy waters of the Arax River will stop flowing before any of the seven liberated territories of Artsakh will be handed by to the Azerbaijanis". Comrade Hakobyan, the only HAK member who attended yesterday’s roundtable meeting, stated today that he walked away unconvinced by the arguments given by the government supporting the protocol ratification by the Armenian parliament. He likened the embryonic document to a lamentation and said that the document was the brainchild of the United States and that it was a prelude to the return of historic Artsakh lands. "With this supplication, the U.S. seeks to dumb-down the reaction of the Armenian public and pave the way for the return of the seven liberated territories," he declared. He added that if he was president there would be no preconditions to the establishment of diplomatic relations with Turkey and that the Turkish-implemented blockade of Armenia would be regarded as a crime against humanity. "The two peaks of Masis would collide before the Armenian people would forgo any material and territorial claims as a result of the 1915 Genocide," Mr. Hakobyan stated in his speech yesterday. He also said that there a number of very interesting proposals were made at yesterday’s meeting that were jotted down by President Sargsyan. "In any event, this forum has shown the world that we will not permit our president to be pressured to sign any document that threatens our national interests. We made the world take notice of our opposition," Mr. Hakobyan noted.
