MP Postanjyan Gearing Up for Next PACE Session; Will Speak About State of Armenian Democracy

Heritage Party MP Zaruhi Postanjyan has told "Hetq" that she is preparing materials to present at the next session of PACE, scheduled for January 25-30, regarding the state of democracy in Armenia. MP Postanjyan says she will present the dossier to the PACE Monitoring Committee. "I have already scheduled a presentation at the session and will be provide evidence regarding violations that took place during yesterday’s parliamentary by-election," she stated and added that she was also waiting for the court’s verdict t in the case of Nikol Pashinyan expected on January 19. MP Postanjyan also mentioned that she has recently circulated a draft bill that would prohibit delegation members from countries undergoing PACE monitoring to be elected to high positions in the organization. She submitted the resolution for review specifically to block a Turkish delegate from being selected as the PACE president. She told "Hetq" that there was a good chance that the resolution would be reviewed during the upcoming session and that it would be adopted. Other members of the Armenian delegation failed to support the resolution and it was only included in the PACE agenda due to backing from delegates of other nations.
