A roundtable discussion took place today in Yerevan regarding the launch of a 1 million Euro grant project designed to reduce violence against children in Armenia. The three-year project is fully funded through European Commission and will be implemented by World Visiosn Armenia. Project Manager Yelena Ispiryan told Hetq that special attention would be paid to the condition of children at Armenia’s overnight care centers since they are newly created institutions based on the old Soviet boarding school system and risk potential is higher. Mrs. Ispiryan said that World Vision had a good working relationship with the government and that they would expose any and all instances of child abuse and violence regardless of who was responsible.
