Free Medical Treatment for Relatives of Slain Artskah Soldiers

From now until May 1, 2010, family members from Armenia, Artsakh and Javakhk whose relatives were killed during the Artsakh War can apply for free medical treatment at the Yerevan Medical Center in Yerevan. During a conversation with Hetq, Mr. Taron Tonoyan, Director of the Center said that in his professional capacity he has met many individuals who haven’t been able to avail themselves of free medical treatment from state-run hospitals. "While we don’t have a contract with the government to treat those at state expense, we can afford to assist them during the upcoming month," said Mr. Tonoyan. Last year the Center carried out a similar charitable program and treated some 500 family members of fallen soldiers. The Center performed 115 surgeries. Director Tonoyan says that the Center is equipped to offer a wide range of treatment and most types of surgery. He believes that this year the number of applicants will surpass that of last year due to the fact that patients were pleasantly satisfied with the treatment they received and that word has spread throughout the community To register, all one needs to bring is a passport and documentation verifying that they are a family member of a soldier who was killed as a result of participating in the war. The Yerevan Medical Center can be reached at (010) 42-08-90 for more information. Photo: Hakob Poghosyan
