A demonstration is taking place outside in RoA Government Building at Republic Square involving parents of soldiers who have died during peacetime service of the RoA Army and residents who have been evicted to make way for construction in downtown Yerevan under eminent domain laws. Parents of the dead soldiers demand that the government expose and punish those responsible and evicted former residents of Northern Avenue and other downtown Yerevan streets are demanding that they be adequately compensated for their losses. The protestors have told Hetq that none of the officials or ministers arriving for today’s government session has stopped to see what they are protesting about. Some ministers have even been spotted entering the building from the rear entrance to avoid the protestors.
