Republican Party Not Planning Posting Changes

Galust Sahakyan, Deputy President of the Republican Party of Armenia, responds to questions posed by Hetq. Q - Rumors have been circulating as of late that the Republican Party will be making appointment changes in several Regional Governor posts. Are such changes in the making? A - We have not discussed any such thing. The government reviews its problems and the party does the same. The president, prime minister and other members of the government are members of the party, but such matters are discussed by them. However, no such matters have been on the table. Q - And what about Sourik Khachatryan, the Regional Governor of Syunik, won’t he been removed from his post? A - I have no such information on the matter. Q - Nation-wide elections are drawing near. In this context is the Republican Party planning to change those serving at certain government posts? A - No; exactly because the elections are getting closer. But the campaign is still more than a year away. Q - In your opinion was the resignation of Deputy Speaker Arevik Petrosyan somehow connected to the upcoming elections? A - I don’t think so. In fact, I have no such information. It’s a question you’d have to take up with her party, Prosperous Armenia.
