Edward Nalbandian participated in the EPP Foreign Ministers' Meeting

On March 13, Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian participated in the Foreign Ministers' Meeting of the European People's Party in Vienna, initiated by Foreign Minister of Austria Sebastian Kurz.

Foreign Ministers of twelve states, the President of the European People's Party Joseph Daul, Chairman of the European Parliament Committee on Foreign Affairs Elmar Brok, Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn, high ranking officials of the EPP took part in the meeting.

Issues of the fight against terrorism and extremism, migration were on the agenda of the Ministerial Meeting. Discussions covered the current issues in Western Balkans, South Caucasus and ways to resolve them, cooperation within the Eastern Partnership.

Attending the discussions, Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian reflected on migration flows and mentioned, "Armenia has sheltered nearly 20 thousand refugees from Syria, thus making our country the third largest recipient of Syrian refugees in Europe on per capita basis."

The Foreign Minister of Armenia stressed that in order to find solutions to the issues on migration, first of all it is necessary to track reasons behind it. In this context Minister Nalbandian attached importance to united fight against terrorism, process of political resolution of the crisis in Syria.

Edward Nalbandian touched upon Armenia-European Union relations, placed significance to the negotiations launched on the formation of new legal framework, highlighting that the Agreement would reflect the depth of cooperation and the results achieved.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia presented to the EPP colleagues the efforts exerted by Armenia and the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs for the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement, emphasizing that there is no alternative to the peaceful settlement of the issue.
