19 “Injured” Reporters in July 29 Sari Tagh Clashes

Armenia’s Special Investigative Service says that 19 reporters have been registered as “injured parties” due to the clashes between police and protesters on the night of July 29 in the Sari Tagh neighborhood of Yerevan.

The protests were triggered by the armed seizure of a nearby police building on July 17 by an opposition group calling itself Sasna Dzrer.

Scores were injured when cops, some in plainclothes, raided the neighborhood, rousting residents in their homes.

Reporters on the scene, even after showing press credentials, were manhandled and their equipment smashed or seized.
