Former Employees of Bankrupt Vanadzor Chemical Plant Close Highway

Former employees of the Vanadzor-Kimprom chemical plant closed a section of Armenia’s M-6 Highway earlier today for thirty minutes to demand answers regarding when they will finally be paid four months in 2011 unpaid wages.

Employees of the now defunct Kimprom chemical plant in Vanadzor have staged various protests in the past regarding their unpaid wages.

Taron Police Chief Sergo Ayvazyan arrived on the scene and contacted Karen Asatryan, who is overseeing the bankruptcy proceedings for Kimprom.

Avvazyan told the protesters that Asatryan said their issue was in the process of being resolved, but the irate former employees were not placated.

The protesters dispersed after receiving a promise by Asatryan to meet with the former employees and discuss the issue of back wages owed some 150 former workers.
