Armenia Improves Its International Sustainable Energy Ranking

Armenia climbed nine places in this year’s World Energy Council’s Trilemma index that ranks countries on their ability to provide sustainable energy through 3 dimensions: Energy security, Energy equity (accessibility and affordability) and Environmental sustainability.

Armenia ranked 43rd  in overall performance in achieving a sustainable mix of policies. Its Balance Score of BBB, with "A" being the best, highlights how well a country manages the trade-offs of the Trilemma.

125 nations are ranked in the 2018 index. Neighboring Azerbaijan ranked in 27th place and Georgia, in 69th.

According to the index, Armenia shows continued improvement, mostly in the Security dimension. An improvement across all trilemma dimensions results in a balanced and improved profile of BBB

The report on Armenia claims that “solar energy has been developing rapidly in Armenia over the past year” and that the country “will continue to develop the potential of renewable sources of energy, in particular solar energy.”
