Lusavor (Bright) Armenia Party Assumes Role of "True Opposition" in New Parliament
Lusavor Hayastan (Bright Armenia), the party that came in third in yesterday’s snap parliamentary election, thus ensuring it seats in the new parliament, said in a statement released today that “the revolution is over and now is the time for institutional reforms”.
Calling itself “an opposition force of intelligence and principle”, Bright Armenia says it is concerned that big business and politics in Armenia remain linked and that the party remains committed to fighting “this chronic scourge”.
The party, a newcomer to Armenian politics, describes itself as the only real opposition force to be seated in the new parliament to be dominated by deputies from the Nikol Pashinyan backed Im Kayl (My Step) Alliance.
Bright Armenia garnered 6.4% of the vote, not far behind Gagik Tsarukyan’s Prosperous Armenia Party with 8.3%
The other 8 parties/alliances failed to meet the vote threshold (5%/7%) for seats in the new parliament.
