Police Break-up Protocol Protest Opposite Government Building

Today, a number of Armenian environmental groups staged a demonstrationsoutside the Government Building in downtown Yerevan, protesting the recently signed Armenian-Turkish protocols.
Police soon converged on the scene and started to rip posters from the hands of the protestors. The police claimed that the posters were “defamatory of the state” and ordered the crowd to leave the premises.
The protestors had intended to enter the building and proceed to the second floor offices of the president. Naturally, the police thwarted such plans.
