A group of students, clergy and assorted activists are now gathering outside the Georgian embassy in Yerevan to protest what they claim is a “white genocide” taking place against Armenian culture and specifically Armenian churches in Georgia.

Shouting slogans such as “shame, shame”, “stop the neglect” and “You are Christians like us”, the demonstrators are waiting for the Georgian ambassador to exit the building in order to make their demands known to the official. The activists state that Georgia must grant legal status to the Armenian Church Diocese and must take measures to preserve Armenian cultural monuments in the country.

Readers will remember that a few days ago the St. Gevorg of Mughni Church in Tbilisi collapsed after years of neglect. Many, including the Armenian Church, claim that the neglect was official policy on the part of the Georgian authorities.
