Argishti Kiviryan Hospitalized, Still Unable to Speak
[ 2009/05/01 | 12:14 ]Lusineh Sahakyan, the wife of Argishti Kiviryan, the coordinator of the “Armenia today” website who was assaulted and severely beaten the other day, informed “Hetq” that her husband is experiencing sharp head pains and that he still isn’t able to speak.
She reported that his condition is stable and that the doctors have advised a treatment of complete rest. Mr. Kiviryan had been rushed to the Erebuni Medical Center after the brutal assault outside his house early yesterday morning.
The assault on Mr. Kiviryan has been condemned by the Human Rights Defender of Armenia, several journalist organizations and the HAK (Armenian National Congress).
The HAK statement reads, “Taking into account that the violence directed against journalists during the period of this criminal regime has almost become a daily occurrence, the HAK condemns this crime. Even though we hold out no hope that this assault, like previous crimes against journalists, will ever be solved, we still declare that the criminals will be held accountable before the law sooner or later.”
