News Spain Extradites Reputed Russian Gang Leader

A reputed Russian crime boss linked to 27 murders and seven attempted murders was extradited from Spain on Wednesday, announced Marina Gridneva of the Russian Prosecutor General's Office.

Pursuant to the Journalists’ Accreditation Procedure at the RA Central Electoral Commission, approved by CEC on January 31, 2012, the accreditation of journalists is ongoing. Despite that, Point 2 of Article 3 of the Procedure emphasizes that CEC “ensures equal opportunities for all journalists”, some of its provisions raise concern.

News  Armenia Pulls Out of Eurovision in Azerbaijan

Armenia has decided to pull out of the 2012 Eurovision song contest in Azerbaijan, its state broadcaster said on Wednesday, underscoring tensions over the “disputed” enclave of Nagorno-Karabakh, according to a Reuters report dated today.

News SEEMO Condemns Physical Attack on Montenegrin Journalist Olivera Lakic

The Vienna-based South East Europe Media Organisation (SEEMO), an affiliate of the International Press Institute (IPI), strongly condemns the brutal physical attack on Oliver Lakic, an investigative reporter with the Podgorica-based daily Vijesti. When she opened the door of her apartment building, at 9:30 PM on Mar. 7, 2012, a man approached Lakic and hit her several times in the head. The journalist was hospitalised. Her life is not in danger. The perpetrator escaped.
