"Save Teghout" Activists in Solidarity with Those Defending Russian Tsaghovski Forest

Dear activists of Tsaghovski forest,

Environmental activists of "Save Teghut Civic Initiative'' from the Republic of Armenia send their greetings to you, expressing their support. We are really concerned with the issue of Tsaghovski forest, security of the activists and condemn the actions carried out by Police Forces for Special Purposes (aka OMON) and Russian Police undertaken against environmental activists.

We, environmental activists, appreciate your struggle and support your efforts. Currently you are trying to hold the authorities back from their destructive decision that can be ruinous for Tsaghovski forest. The importance of Tsagovski forest is tremendous and indisputable for dense population not only in Zhukovski city, but also in Moscow. Moreover, theTsaghovski forest is an international resource and its protection is very important.

The authorities of the Republic of Armenia are similarly violating several national laws and international conventions, ignoring the calls of international organizations and environmental activists and thus trying to exploit the mine in Teghut forest. Destruction of Teghut forest will become a terrible ecological disaster not only for Armenia, but for the neighboring countries as well.

The environmental activists of "Save Teghut Civic Initiative'' urge all interested bodies, institutions and organizations to respond to the calls of the activists striving for the sake of Tsaghovski forest, prevent possible disaster to take place there and publicly criticize the illegal actions of law enforcement bodies directed against defenders of the Tsaghovski forest.

Tsagovski civil activists, we once again express our support, wish you be strong and persistent for the sake of nature and humanity.

We support your movement!
