Long Lines, Short Tempers in Yerevan's 9/17 Polling Station

Long lines and an air of disorder...this is the scene inside the 9/17 polling station (the Stepan Shahoumyan H.S.)

There are 1,756 names on the voter rolls at this polling station. Many of those showing up are not happy voters.

One woman complained that she had been waiting for 10 minutes and that the hall wasn’t big enough.

A fellow voter said the long lines were a positive sign that the turnout was heavy.

Hrachya Markosyan, president of the local election committee, told Hetq that 380 voters had cast ballots as on 12:30pm.

Markosyan added that while they hadn’t encountered any problems with disappearing ink they had substituted school ink for that supplied by the Central Election Commission as a precaution.
