Due to the recent collapse of the belfry of the St. Nishan Armenian Apostolic Church in Tiflis, Armenia’s Ministry of Culture will be sending a team of architects to examine the structure with their Georgian counterparts and present a restoration plan.

The Ministry says that St. Nshan, built in the early 18^th century, fell victim to a recent earthquake and flooding that hit the area.

On January 9, 2011, a fire broke out in the church and its south-eastern column collapsed when fire crews attempted to extinguish the blaze.
