15:32, June 8, 2012Turkish law enforcement officials detained Bekir Kaya, the mayor of the southeastern province of Van, and five other district mayors yesterday, as well as 10 members of the Peace and Democracy Party (BDP), as part of a probe into the Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK.)
The KCK (Union of Communities in Kurdistan) is a Kurdish organization founded by Abdullah Öcalan, formerly named Koma Komalên Kurdistan (KKK) (Peoples' Confederation of Kurdistan), to put in practice his ideology of democratic confederalism.
