In their win yesterday over Greece, the Czech team scored two goals in the first six minutes of play

Greek coach Fernando Santos noted in post-game remarks that it appeared that his team wasn’t even on the pitch during the first 15 minutes of play.

Santos said Greece’s chances to advance were slim but that there was still hope.

“During halftime I told the guys to put the first half out of their minds. We were trying to come up with a rational strategy for the second half. It’s a tough situation. You not only have to play with your heart but also cold and calculated,” said Santos.

Czech coach Michal Bilek praised the game his side exhibited during the start of the match and their defensive play afterwards.

“We defended well and can be happy to have assured our chance to advance. We all knew that a loss would have spelt the end for us,” said Bilek.
