Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan and his delegation landed in Marseille yesterday to participate in events marking the 20 anniversary of a friendship and cooperation treaty between the two cities.

Upon arriving, Mayor Margaryan was a guest of Marseille Mayor Jean-Claude Gaudin.

Mayor Gaudin noted that the two cities have ties that predate the last 20 years and that he would take all necessary steps to see that these ties are developed further since they represent a microcosm of the wider set of French-Armenian relations.

Marseille, with an Armenian community of some 80,000, has been a sister city with Yerevan since 1992.
