14:06, July 3, 2012Political Science Association of Armenia denounces the act of severe violence used against the military officers of the RA Armed Forces by the RA National Assembly Member Ruben Hayrapetyan’s bodyguards and employees at his family-owned “Harsnakar” restaurant complex, and commiserates with the relatives and friends of the violence victim – Vahe Avetyan, Major of Military Medical Service.
Political Science Association of Armenia regards the rooting culture of violence not only as a phenomenon fraught with human tragedy but also a real threat to the national security that may even jeopardize the Armenian statehood.
In such a situation by forging congenial public relations and modern political culture the inculcation of the public perception of the state system interests’ supremacy becomes a vital necessity. Political Science Association of Armenia as a professional community proposes that Ruben Hayrapetyan should be guided by the sense of this priority interest, and in accordance with the Article 67 of the RA Constitution and the Article 13 of the RA Law on “Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly” resign his MP position on his own initiative, as well as put an end to his political activity.
Political Science Association of Armenia perceives as its professional duty to give an academic assessment to this accident leaving the criminal qualification upon Armenia’s competent bodies.
