14:53, August 20, 2012Richard Morningstar, the newly appointed US ambassador to Azerbaijan, will leave for Baku after August 25 according to the Trend news service.
The announcement was made in Georgetown during an event at the United States-Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce (USACC) offices.
Ambassador Morningstar touched upon issues of energy security and cooperation in the Caspian Region, adding that the Southern Energy Corridor plays a vital role for Azerbaijan in terms of energy diversification.
He also stressed the importance of settling the Nagorno Karabakh conflict for both countries.
Prior to his nomination as Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Richard L. Morningstar was the U.S. Secretary of State's Special Envoy for Eurasian Energy. Ambassador Morningstar was nominated Ambassador to Azerbaijan by U.S. President Barack Obama in April.
