Mom Takes the Witness Stand in Sexual Trafficking Case

The first trial session of H. Mouradyan, accused of sexual trafficking in Turkey, had been postponed at the Shirak Court because the alleged victim had gone to Russia to work.

At today’s trial, Judge Manukyan decided to go ahead even though the alleged victim was still in Russia and wouldn’t be back until the end of November.

The judge decided to hear the testimony of the summoned witnesses and then to hear the statements of the accused.

The first to take the witness stand was the alleged victim’s mother. She described how they first met with the accused, Narineh Movsisyan, and how the woman promised child care work to her daughter in Turkey.

The mother testified that she talked via Skype to her daughter who was working for a Turkish family in Trabizon. The daughter worked there for 4 months until being arrested and deported.

The mother also testified that her daughter had been coerced into the sex trade by the accused.
