Sardarapat Movement: No Concessions on Karabakh

The Sardarapat Movemnet today issued a statement arguing that the upcoming June 25th meeting in Kazan, designed to hammer out the initial framework for a settlement of the Karabakh iaause, was being framed amidst unprecedented international pressure by the negotiating partners for the Armenian side to compromise its vital interests.

It warned that such foreign pressure is an attempt to coerce Armenia to agree to the return of the liberated territories and the deployment of foreign troops there.

"The countries chairing the OSCE Minsk Group are following the pursuit of their own interests in the region and are once again trying to pry the greatest amount of compromises from Armenia and violate the status-quo. Their actions will drastically alter the tactical and strategic measures of various power centers regarding a settlement and lead to a resumption if warfare," Sardarapat noted in its statement.

Sardarapat also pointed to the lack of legitimacy of the current Armenian regime as a major cause for Yerevan's vulnerability and defeatist attitude in the settlement process.

The opposition movement declared that it was ready to halt all actions that would bargain away the fate of the Armenian nation.
