Prosperous Armenia Calls for Mutual Respect: Doesn't Reject Election Outright

Armenia’s Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK), which didn’t field a candidate in the February 18 presidential election, has called on the authorities and influential political forces to display wisdom, mutual respect and decisiveness in order to solve the numerous challenges now facing the people and the government.

In its official statement, the BHK made no mention of the election results themselves; either accepting or rejecting them.

The party, led by Gagik Tsaroukyan (photo), did say that there was a popular sentiment of distrust towards the electoral process in Armenia.

“The discontent amongst wide segments of society merely goes to prove that the numerous problems that face the country still haven’t been solved. Every instance of injustice by various units of the government further insults the dignity of the citizens and daily feeds the level of public discontent.”

The BHK called on all influential political forces to initiate the drafting of a comprehensive political, economic and democratic master plan to tackle the challenges facing Armenia.
