Prosecutors General of Armenia and Iran Sign a Memorandum on Rapport

The Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia Aghvan Hovsepyan and the Prosecutor General of the Islamic Republic of Iran Gholam-Hossein Mohseni Ejei today in Yerevan signed a Memorandum on Rapport. According to it the parties engaged to cooperate in the struggle against transnational crime, provide legal aid to each other in case of necessity.

Hitherto the cooperation between the prosecution offices of the two countries was implemented in a diplomatic way to which the Embassy of Iran to Armenia supported as well. After the signing of Memorandum the parties can communicate directly. It will give an opportunity to respond to queries of legal aid on separate criminal cases more operatively and effectively.

Before signing the Memorandum A. Hovsepyan had received the delegation headed by Gholam-Hossein Mohseni Ejei, then had a private conversation with him. During the meeting issues on cooperation were discussed.

The Prosecutors General said that the economic cooperation between the two countries, tourism have greatly developed in recent years, the volume of merchandise circulation has grown, the close cooperation of law enforcement bodies is just a necessity in such circumstances. The Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia reports that arrangements were achieved on developing the cooperation between the prosecution offices and law enforcement bodies of the countries.
