Some Yerevan residents still continue to keep busy doing the things that they love, while at the same time enjoying the warmth and sun of the city. Vardan Artzatyan came to Yerevan from Baku some fifty years ago and brought his first flock of pigeons with him. Despite the objections of his family, he spent most of the day in the pigeon coop located smack dab in the center of Yerevan. Today, Mr. Artzatyan has handed over his legacy to Mourad Mouradyan, hoping that the younger man will keep the tradition alive and that new generations of pigeons will gracefully take wing over the noise and bustle of the city’s streets.
