Goris Police have arrested the son and bodyguard of Syunik Provincial Governor Sourik Khachatryan on suspicion of involvement in a shoot-out on June 1 that left one dead and two wounded.

The incident in Goris, in which argument escalated into a gun fight, took place near the home of Governor Khachatryan.

In a statement released by the RA Prosecutor General’s Office, the criminal case has been handed over to the Investigative Division of the Ministry of Defence given that one of the alleged participants in the incident was General Artak Boudaghyan.

His brother Avetik was killed on the spot.

The statement says that a large cache of weapons was uncovered during the preliminary investigation.
