Only 10% of Medicines Used in Armenia is Locally Produced
At the Pharma Armenia 5th annual International Pharmaceutical Competitiveness Conference, RA Minister of Health Derenik Doumanyan said that, at maximum, only 10% of medicines used in Armenia is locally produced.
“We, along with you, have serious work to do in terms of increasing local pharmaceutical production and ensuring suitable conditions that the sector is in need of,” Doumanyan told the participants.
The June 14 conference was organized by the Medicine Producers and Importers Union (MPIU) of Armenia with the support of the USAID-funded Enterprise Development and Market Competitiveness (EDMC) Project and the Industrial Development Fund of Armenia. The conference is also supported by the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Economy, the Scientific Centre of Drug and Medical Technology Expertise, the Armenian Development Agency, and the State Medical University.
