Public Council Head Praises Fare Activists and Will Attend Mashtots Park Meeting

Public Council President Vazgen Manoukyan has accepted the invitation of transit fare activists to meet today at 8pm at Yerevan’s Mashtots Park.

In a statement issued today, Manoukyan praises the young activists for their actions protesting the recent 50% fare hikes and says their actions were justified.

Manoukyan argues that the time has arrived to draft a vision of what the public transit system in Armenia should look like in order to be accessible and to meet the demands of citizens.

He says that the Public Council continues to work in this direction based on public sentiments and the opinions of experts in the field.

Manoukyan says that with this objective in mind, the Public Council has reached out to activists to participate in this process and that, in response, the activists invited members of the Public Council to attend today’s meeting.
