Several hundred people marched through the streets in Yerevan today in defense of Shant Haroutyunyan, the political activist who attempted to stage a "revolution" with several followers in November 2013.
Haroutyunyan was subsequently arrested and is now receiving medical care at a correctional facility awaiting trial after staging a two week hunger strike.
The marchers briefly stopped outside the GovernmentBuilding to voice their demand that Harutyunyan be freed. They then proceeded to the Prosecutor General’s Office, and from there to the National Security Service.
Shant Haroutyunyan’s son Shahen was at the head of the march.
