Republican Party candidate Yurik Tsougounyan yesterday lost his bid to be re-elected to a seventh term as mayor of Hovk, a village in Tavoush province.

He was beaten by first time candidate Grigor Gevorgyan by a vote of 125 to 99.

236 voters out of 318 registered went to the polls in Hovk where elections for village council also took place.
