[caption id="" align="alignleft" width="150" caption=" "]06_11-agarak.jpg[/caption] The protest stage by workers at the Agarak Copper-Molybdenum Plant that began on November 5th over pending job and wage cuts, ended today when the Regional Governor of Syunik Marz, Surik Khachatryan, visited the site and urged workers to return to their jobs. He told the protestors that if the strike continued the plant wouldn’t be in a position to restart operations. Standing before the protestors Mr. Khachatryan declared, “I am with you and will fight till the end. You will not loose your jobs. I have talked with plant management, the President of Armenia and the Prime Minister. In the near future all outstanding issues will be discussed with the plant’s owners.” He called on the protestors to resume work at least until next Monday. The workers returned to their jobs as of 6:00 pm today. At present the whereabouts of the plant’s owner Georgy Devatze are unknown but he is rumored to have earlier fled to his native Georgia.
