RoA Minister of Economy Meets with World Bank Official

On February 3, Roa Minister of the Economy Nerses Yeritsyan met with a World Bank delegation headed by Aristomene Varoudakis, director of the WB's office in Yerevan. The aim of the meeting was to discuss the Development Policy Operation (DPO) program, the fundamental problems arising out the overall reforms program and a clarification of the most effective means to resolve them, and the connections of these programs with the 2008 Strategic Development Plan. The meeting also aimed to define the possible resources for vital technical assistance needed to resolve the problems in question. During the session the parties reviewed the parameters of the those primary programs intended for 2009-2010 and issues arising from the global economic crisis. The World Bank's senior economist Robert Taliercio informed Minister Yeritsyan that the reforms package included in the DPO would continue and that were generally directed to raise the level of the couuntry competitiveness, the implementation of reforms in the tax, customs, education and health sectors, the fight against corruption, to ensure public safeguards, as well as policy supervision in the energy and mining sectors
