Yesterday, Alex Yenikomshian, a member of the "Union Initiative" express the view that the Armenian-Turkish protocols signed on August 31 was a document that, "neglected the 5,000 years of our history and the Genocide and signalled the transfer of our country into the Turkish zone of influence". Mr. Yenikomshian stated his view at an public meeting entitled "Not One Inch of Native Land". "We understand that the liberation of Western Armenia isn’t the work of today or tomorrow. Neither do we state that the legal union of Artsakh with Armenia will be realized today, in one month or in one year. But these remain strategic objectives. All other temporary steps can be tactical functions and methods. Any tactical measure is acceptable with the condition that it doesn’t oppose the strategic objective," Mr. Yenikomshian argued. He added that maintain the long-term ideal of the defence of the liberated Artsakh territories and their union with the Republic of Armenia and Western Armenia is a guarantor for our existence today and in the future. "The first goal of any Armenian, whether in the RoA, the NKR or in the diaspora must be to dearly hold on to this goal. All other objectives today are appendages." Mr. Yenikomshian characterized all those who seek to undermine the demands for justice related to the Genocide and the will to preserve the victories of Artsakh as "national traitors". "One after another, Armenian governments have expressed their full willingness to hand over to the enemy the lands liberated with the blood of our brothers, and have already signed a document that neglects our 5,000 years of history and the Armenian Genocide and hands the country over to a zone of Turkish influence," he added. Mr. Yenikomshian minced no words when he said that all those, from the current RoA President on down, including government and non-government organizations, that take steps to trample these victories and squash the long-term visions of the Armenian people will be held accountable before the Armenian people, in the fill sense of the word. He concluded by saying that different Armenian governments during the past 17 years have succeeded in quashing the will of the people and getting away with it. "This most recent abomination and treachery however will not go unpunished."
