Sardarapat Movement member Garegin Choukaszyan hammered home one word at a press conference today – alienation.

Choukaszyan said that in post-March 1Armenia, the people were alienated from the government and from themselves.

It would be naïveté to believe that free and fair elections could be held in Armenia when those responsible for the tragic deaths of March 1, 2008 have still not been punished, said Choukaszyan.

He said the country was being ruled by a few score of families that have placed the entire population of Armenia at risk. They must hand over their grip on authority for the benefit of the majority, the Sardarapat Movement representative argued.

Armenia finds itself bankrupt, he said, pointing to the only two paths that lie ahead – either liquidation or the unification of all dynamic forces in the country in order to create a new Armenia.
