During today’s cabinet session, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan noted that the threat posed by the Nubarashen toxic waste dump is being personally monitored by Armenian President Sargsyan. It was also noted that the Ministry for Emergency Situations had entered into negotiations with a number of international organizations and donor nations to finance the clean-up and permanent safe storage of the toxic wastes now uncovered at the site. The government has decided to allocate 31.6 million AMD from state reserves to cordon off the site and appropriately cover it up, thus providing a temporary solution until more lasting measures are taken.
