Zvartnots Airport Will Soon Be Able to Accept World's Largest Planes

Construction work is near completion at Yerevan’s Zvartnots International Airport that will allow the world’s largest planes to land and take off. A $3 million project to widen and resurface the landing strip at the airport will be finished in two weeks according to officials. Ashot Mirzoyan, Director of Technical Operations, says that the landing strip was last repaired fifteen years ago and that the work now being done will last for another 8-10 years. A new passenger terminal and 600 car garage is also being built at Zvartnots. Architect Lukas Perez Monsalvoy says that the new terminal will be able to withstand a level 9 earthquake.
