Armenian Parliament Postpones Vote on Controversial Language Bill

The RA National Assembly will not convene hearings regarding the second reading of two controversial draft bill containing modifications and amendments to the "Language Law" and the "Public Education Law". A group opposed to the reopening of foreign language schools in Armenia staged a protest outside the National Assembly. They left the site when Heritage Party MP’s informed them that there would be no hearings on the bill.

Aram Apatyan, a member of the civic group opposed to the bill, told Hetq that the bill would most likely be put to a vote at the next parliamentary session in two weeks.
