ARF spokesman Giro Manoyan suggested that Armenian withdraw its signature from the Turkish-Armenian Protocols as of today and replace the "frozen" document with a half page text containing the following three provisions. 1) The two sides have decided to establish diplomatic relations 2) The two sides have decided to open the highways 3) The two sides have decided to settle all outstanding issues peacefully, according to international norms.

"On the day that Turkey is ready to sign such a document, so will Armenia. But given today’s situation, Armenia has put pressure on itself by giving Turkey a lever to claim that ‘it wants to establish peace in the region’," said Mr. Manoyan. The ARF official argued that with these Protocols, even though un-ratified, Turkey has received 80% of what it sought. "Turkey has given nothing, it has only received. Armenia, on the other hand, has received nothing. It has only handed over possibilities," Mr. Manoyan said.
