After revealing violations at the Sotk mine operated by GeoProMining Gold, the RA Control Chamber said that it would petition the government to suspend the company’s license. The Control Chamber press office told Hetq that it sent the paperwork to the government back in October of last year. We asked Aram Ananyan, an assistant to the prime minister, what was the status of the Control Chamber’s report. He advised us to go to the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources for clarification. Lusineh Harutunyan, the Ministry’s press officer, told us they hadn’t received any such paperwork from the Control Chamber as yet. We went back to Aram Ananyan, telling him that the Control Chamber had assured us that they had sent their findings to the government. He told us that it was a matter for the Ministry and that the issue was being reviewed by staffers there. Mr. Ananyan said the review would be completed by January 31.
